What the BMW Certified Designation Means
Buy a certified pre-owned BMW and you will enjoy much more than the joy of riding around town in The Ultimate Driving Machine. These vehicles provide buyers with the peace of mind they crave and deserve. Each certified pre-owned BMW comes with a comprehensive warranty. This means your vehicle will provide elite performance without flaw. If anything goes wrong, the warranty will kick in so you don’t have to zap your savings to get the vehicle back in driving shape. The warranty extends across two years or 50,000 miles. It commences when the initial four-year/50,000 mile warranty expires. If this warranty has expired, the certified pre-owned warranty will commence when you purchase the vehicle. The coverage extends all the way to six years/100,000 miles from the date of purchase. There is also an Elite Warranty for BMW Certified Pre-owned vehicles that lasts for one year or 25,000 miles. It commences at the expiration of the initial warranty to provide a total of five years/75,000 miles of coverage.
The Distinction of Being Certified
A pre-owned BMW can only be distinguished as “Certified” if it has the full backing of BMW. The vehicle is inspected from top to bottom, reconditioned and evaluated by a BMW inspection team for approval. This team is comprised of BMW trained technicians and service managers. They inspect the vehicle’s safety, wear and performance across 100 unique points. If something is not up to par, it is remedied. If it can’t be fixed, the vehicle does not make the cut as a Certified Pre-owned BMW. Yet the certification process does not even occur unless the vehicle in question has a rock-solid maintenance history, legitimate BMW parts and a CARFAX report. If the vehicle doesn’t meet these standards, it will not even be considered for BMW Pre-owned Certification.
The Best of the Best
We only qualify the cream of our used vehicle crop for the BMW Certified Pre-owned Program. A late-model vehicle is only eligible for the program if it is in service for a minimum of six months or has more than 6,000 miles but fewer than 60,000 miles. Vehicles in the Elite Certified Pre-owned category are comparably new. They have a minimum of 300 miles and fewer than 15,000 miles. These elite vehicles have a shorter warranty period yet they provide the valuable peace of mind that comes from owning a fairly new vehicle.
