BMW 2017 X1

BMW currently makes seven sport activity vehicles (SAVs) you should consider before deciding which one is right for you. Three, however, stand out as some of the most sophisticated options. If you’re looking for a mid-sized SAV that feels at home on I-65’s traffic as well as winding country roads, you need to test drive these models.

2016 BMW X1

The 2016 BMW X1 is one of BMW’s most affordable SAVs. Despite the lower price, owners still get excellent features that will make driving comfortable and fun.

The X1 comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that will give you 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. That’s less than what you will get from BMW SAVs with larger engines, but the X1 can still go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds.

The smaller engine also means you get better fuel efficiency than other BMW SAVs. According to the EPA, you can expect about 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

While test driving the 2016 X1, pay attention to the interior features as well as its excellent performance. The X1 comes in one trim level that BMW has loaded with features, including:

  • The iDrive Interface
  • A 6.5-inch touchscreen
  • Navigation
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control

BMW SAV - 2016 X4

2016 BMW X4

The 2016 BMW X4 comes with one of two engines. The X4 xDrive28i has a supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that creates 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. If you want something more powerful, opt for the xDrive35i, which has a six-cylinder engine that cranks out 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. The differences in power mean the xDrive28i can go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds, while the xDrive35i can do it just 5.2 seconds.

When test driving the X4, pay attention to its comfortable ride and excellent handling. Also, inspect the SAV’s vast interior. It should offer more than enough room for road trips as well as family trips to the grocery.

2016 BMW X5

2016 BMW X5

BMW built the 2016 BMW X5 SAVfor drivers who want stellar performance from their vehicles. It comes with a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine that churns out an impressive 567 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. Tests show that it can launch itself from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds. That’s fast enough to satisfy even the most demanding driver. Of course, it takes a lot of fuel to generate that much power. The EPA estimates that you will get 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.

Of course, you’ll get more from the X5 than just a lot of power under the hood. It comes standard with features such as:

  • 21-inch wheels
  • Rearview camera
  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated front sport seats
  • Quad-zone automatic climate control

The BMW vehicle you choose will ultimately depend on what features mean the most to you. Any of these models, however, could meet your needs. Test drive them soon so you can decide which one offers the performance and luxury features you want in a vehicle.
